The Good, The Bad, and the Uncertain

It’s late and time to go to bed. What? Local Colorado NBC News Anchors just bid their adieus and signed off for the night. They were sorry for the confusion regarding Senate race Bennet v. Buck but had to go to bed. Thank goodness political and Law wizard Jeralyn Merritt of talkleft.com is keeping track of the national numbers no matter the hour:

Update: 11 pm MT: The media goofed big time. A few minutes ago, they gave Ken Buck a 30,000 vote bump, putting him in the lead over Michael Bennet for the first time tonight. What? It was a mistake, the votes should have gone to Bennet. The votes probably came from Boulder, which was running 70% for Bennet all night, and then went to 54%, with a difference of about 30,000 vote. In other words, the media put them in the wrong column. The corrected numbers show each with 47% of the vote and within 4,000 votes of each other.

There are still a significant number of votes to be counted. (from an earlier talkleft post)

Networks are closing up shop, but Jerri has some insights that shed some light that might help us insomniacs.

Thanks Jerri..

Os course there are some victories and disappointments, but let’s hash those out in the days to come.

Let’s close with Hunter’s missive from the last page of Hey Rube :

"Politics is the Art of Controlling Your Environment"
That is one of the key things I learned in these years, and I learned it the hard way. Anybody who thinks that "it doesn’t matter who’s President" has never been Drafted and sent off to fight and die in a vicious, stupid War on the other side of the World–or been beaten and gassed by police for trespassing on public property–or been hounded by the IRS for purely political reasons–or locked up in the Cook County Jail with a broken nose and no phone access and twelve perverts wanting to stomp your ass in the shower. That is when it matters who is President or Governor or Police Chief. That is when you will wish you had voted.

–Hunter S. Thompson, Hey Rube

 Goodnight and good luck,

Anita Thompson
